Kitchen Fairytales reviewed by DAVID ELLERY of the BALLARAT COURIER:
"Hepburn based performer - and recent mother - Visnja is sure to prove a real discovery to the punters who invest in this, her second album. The talented contralto, who has a vocal range to die for, differs from many of her peers in that she has studied music professionally at a very high level.
Other accomplishments include being a highly skilled pianist and a very accomplished recorder player. Her full repertoire of talents is put to good use on this 13 track, and largely self-composed, album.
The only piece that has not been penned by Visnja – an artist who cites Kate Bush and Enya as among her influences – is the traditional air She Moved Through the Fair. That said, Visnja has given the piece a strikingly original arrangement.
Her own compositions, all delivered with an ethereal – almost angel-like voice, are a blend of the whimsical, the humorous and the intuitively perceptive. Dishes and Coffee, a 21st century take on the housefrau’s lot, is an introspective study that sets the tone for the album. Equally evocative is the final – and title- track Kitchen Fairytales."
